Ecology. Technology. Anime : massive open online course
While teaching and researching at University of Tyumen, School of Advanced Studies, I had the honor to work with Lektorium to produce a massive open online course. Ecology Technology Anime is a five-week video course for high school students and first-year university students. The course, adapted from a longer syllabus, consists of 28 short lectures to accompany viewing six anime:
- Week 1. Introducing Ecological Thinking ~ Mononoke Hime
- Week 2. Technology and Technics ~ Shangri-la
- Week 3. Microbiome ~ Moyashimon
- Week 4. Robots and Androids ~ Time of Eve / Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou
- Week 5. Cyborgs and Cybernetics ~ Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence
* each chapter link below leads to a page with introductory text and images, a video lecture, reading assignments, and additional readings and viewings.

Final Review: Ecology Technology Anime
~~~
I want to thank Lektorium for their excellent and extraordinary patient production crew. I was a handful. I also thank School of Advanced Studies and the University of Tyumen for providing the opportunity and financial support for this production. Most especially, I want to thank all my students who have taken my various versions of the course Ecology Technology and Anime. Finally, thank you Professor Joe Dumit for developing and co-teaching the very first Ecology Technology and Anime course together at University of California, Davis.
