“‘Changed’ will attempt to create an intensive, collaborative, consensus based experimental theatre laboratory that will institutionally culminate in free public presentations (possibly in one of the theatres on campus). The laboratory is both a performance and a pedagogy experiment. “Changed” will explore themes of ecology and politics, climate and social justice. These themes will be developed using performance practices of interpersonal transformation.” From the original project proposal written by duskin drum and Sarah Salem.

The project, called the change(d), was an eight-person theatre laboratory or workshop that culminated in three public performances. When organizing the project I framed it as a consensus based collaborative project engaging with politics and ecology. In our work we collectively decided to avoid representation and storytelling. The performances were non-narrative and almost non-representational. We billed the shows as political and ecological allegory.

We experimented and trained for fourteen hours a week for two months. We worked with meditation, theatre exercises, dance, and capoeira angola movements.
